16% of the referral traffic to Google+ comes from Gmail

Most of the referral traffic to Google+ comes from Google properties. Indeed, 45.62% of the referral traffic comes from Google’s search engine, while Gmail comes second with a 16.17% share. Among the top ten sources, eight are other Google websites and account to 73% of all upstream traffic. These figures show Google’s convergence strategy to bring traffic to its new social network

7% of the referral traffic to Google+ comes from Facebook

Most of visitors coming from other Google websites are returning users. 76.49% of the users coming from Google’s search engine have already visited the social network in the past 30 days. The share is similar for most of the other Google properties such as Gmail (72.15%) and Youtube (82.21%). Facebook and Yahoo are in the top 10 sources of referral traffic. 6.52% of the referral traffic to Google+ comes from Facebook while 1.01% comes from Yahoo Mail.
