Facebook accounts for 28% of display ads in the US (Microsoft sites: 10%)

Facebook is winning the battle for display advertisement. Facebook accounts for 15% of money spent on display ads in the United states, beating Yahoo and Google sites which account for 10% each. Facebook displays more ads than any other platform. 28% of all display ads seen online in the United States come from Facebook, up from 23% a year ago. Although Facebook is only the fourth web property in the United States in unique visitors, internet users spend more time on Facebook than on Google, Microsoft and Yahoo combined.

People spend more time on Facebook than on Google, Yahoo and Microsoft sites combined

Most of Facebook ads come from small advertisers. 62% of Facebook ads come from smaller businesses outside the top 1000 advertisers. In contrast, 23% of Yahoo and 21% of Microsoft’s display ads come from businesses outside the top 1000. Facebook has growth opportunities. The fact that 21% only of ads seen on Facebook come from top 100 advertisers in the United States shows that the social network still has to demonstrate its effectiveness to larger businesses.
