61% of smartphone users in the UK access social networks

Almost half of smartphone users in Western Europe access social media via their mobile devices. 45.2% of smartphones users in Western Europe (United Kingdom, France, Spain, Germany and Italy) use their mobile devices to access social networking sites and blogs. This figure corresponds to the number of Europeans who ised a blog or a social network via a mobile device during the three months ending October 2011.

The United Kingdom has the highest penetration rate of social networking users. 61% of smartphone users in the UK access social media via their mobile devices. Other countries in Western Europe lag far behind. France comes second, after the UK, with a 45.4% penetration rate, followed by Spain (41.3%), Germany (38.8%) and Italy (35.9%).
