43% of cell phone owners in the US regularly use mobile internet

Cell phones are owned by a majority of people in most major countries in the world. 85% of people in the US report owning a cell phone, against 96% in Spain, 89% in Britain, 88% in Germany and 85% in France. 93% of people in China report owning a cell phone against 53% of people in India, 55% in Indonesia, 48% in Pakistan and 86% in Japan. Texting is widespread in both wealthy nations and the developing world. 75% of cell phone owners in the world regularly send text messages.

28% of cell phone owners in France regularly use mobile internet

Many use their cell phones to take pictures or videos. A median 50% use their cell phones in this way in the 21 countries polled. 57% of cell phone owners in the US use their mobile devices to take pictures or videos, against 59% in Spain, 54% in Britain, 27% in Germany and 51% in France. Many use also their cell phones to go online. 43% of cell phone owners in the US use their mobile devices to go online, against 21% in Spain, 38% in Britain, 18% in Germany and 28% in France.
