81% of small businesses report using social media marketing
Most business use social media. 81% of small businesses report using social media marketing, up from 73% in spring 2011. While Facebook is the top social media platform for small businesses, Twitter comes second – and seems to be gaining ground – followed by Linkedin. 60% of those using Twitter found it to be an effective tool to connect with customers, up from 47% in the spring.
24% of small businesses sometimes respond to comments on social media
40% small businesses don’t use social media as interaction platforms with their followers. Roughly 60% of small businesses report that they always respond to comments on social media, whether positive or negative. 24% of small business respond occasionally – and 16% not al all – to comments on social media, for three main reasons: they don’t have time, they don’t think it’s necessary or they don’t know what to say.
